VUODEN 2025 Jyväskylän yliopiston ylioppilaskunnan edustajistovaalien tulokset julkaistiin tortaina 6. marraskuuta. Vaalien suurimmaksi yllätykseksi on tyrkyllä kaksi varteenotettavaa vaihtoehtoa: PD:n romahdus ja vihreiden huima tulos.
Jo ehdokasasettelusta saattoi päätellä, että vaalit eivät tulisi olemaan helpot perinteisesti tasaisesti suorittaneelle PD:lle. Kukaan kuitenkaan tuskin arvasi, että vuosina 2013–2021 viidet vaalit putkeen voittanut vaaliliitto romahtaisi viiteen edustajaan. 12 prosenttia äänistä saaneen PDn kannatus romahti yli puoleen vuoden 2023 vaaleista.
Jyyn Vihreillä sen sijaan riittää syytä juhlaan. Viime vaaleissa kokonaan edustajistosta pudonneiden vihreiden paluuta edustajistoon saattoi etukäteen veikata moni, mutta kuuteen edustajapaikkaan oikeuttanut 15,4 prosentin ääniosuus on erittäin hyvä tulos.
Vihreiden tulosta tarkastellessa silmiin pistää erityisen hyvin menestyneet kärkiehdokkaat. Edustajistovaalien kolme eniten ääniä saanutta ehdokasta löytyvät kaikki vihreiden listalta: Meeri Arvola 112 äänellä, Saga Yli-Hannuksela Poutanen 100 äänellä ja Ralf Lehtipuu 85 äänellä.

EDUSTAJISTON SUURIMPANA ryhmänä jatkaa myös seuraavalla kaudella Jyviva, joka tosin menetti kannatustaan 4,7 prosenttiyksikköä. Edustajistopaikkoja Jyviva sai 11, mikä on kolme paikkaa vähemmän kuin viime vaaleissa.
Kolmas paikkoja menettänyt vaaliliitto on Jyväskylän keskustaopiskelijat, joka menetti toisen kahdesta paikastaan. Keskustan kannalta valopilkkuna voi pitää edustajistopaikkansa säilyttäneen Jarno Saukon komeaa 77 äänen saalista, mikä on vaalien viidenneksi eniten.
Vaalien voittajiksi voidaan vihreiden rinnalle nostaa myös Alvarin Unioni, joka nousi Järjestöjen ääni -vaalirenkaan suurimmaksi ryhmäksi kahdeksalla edustajistopaikalla, mikä on yksi enemmän kuin edellisissä vaaleissa.
Yhden lisäpaikan saivat myös Luonnontieteilijät ja Opiskelevat kokoomuslaiset. Demariopiskelijat säilyttivät kaksi paikkaansa.
Merkittävä muutos aiempaan oli sekin, että Alvarin unionin, PD:n ja Luotin muodostama Järjestöjen ääni -vaalirengas jäi aiemmista vaaleista poiketen vähemmistöasemaan. Järjestöjen ääni sai 39-paikkaiseksi kutistuneesta edustajistosta yhteensä 17 paikkaa, kun se viime vaaleissa saavutti yksinkertaisen enemmistön.
Vihreät ei tällä kertaa ollut mukana Kampuksen punavihreät -vaalirenkaassa. Tästä huolimatta on huomionarvoista, että vasemmistoryhmät ja vihreät eivät jääneet kauas yksinkertaisesta enemmistöstä. Jyviva, vihreät ja demariopiskelijat saivat yhteensä 19 edustajaa.
Pettymys oli myös äänestysprosentti, joka laski 19,79 prosenttiin. Vuonna 2023 Jyyn edustajistovaaleissa äänesti 20,48 prosenttia äänioikeutetuista. Kaiken kaikkiaan ääniä annettiin hieman enemmän kuin viime vaaleissa, mutta samaan aikaan myös Jyyn jäsenmäärä on kasvanut.
Tulos on muihin ylioppilaskuntiin verrattuna huono, mutta aivan pahnan pohjimmaiseksi Jyväskylässä ei sentään valahdettu. Åbo Akademis Studentkårin vaaleissa äänestysprosentti valahti tänä vuonna 18,56 prosenttiin ja Taideyliopiston ylioppilaskunnan vaaleissa 18,74 prosenttiin.

EDUSTAJISTOVAALIEN TULOSILTAA seuraamaan oli ainakin etukäteisilmoittautumisien mukaan saapunut Ilokivi Venuelle peräti noin 50 opiskelijaa. Jylkkäri kiersi vaalien ratkettua tiedustelemassa eri ryhmien tunnelmia. Niitä saatiin kaikista muista vaaliliitoista paitsi keskustasta ja kokoomuksesta, vaikka näköhavaintojen mukaan heitäkin oli alkuillasta paikalla.

The Greens surged and PD collapsed – here’s how the seats were distributed
THE RESULTS of the 2025 Student Union Council elections at the University of Jyväskylä were published on Thursday, November 6. There are two strong contenders for the biggest surprise of the election: PD’s collapse and the Greens’ remarkable success.
Even during the nomination phase, it was clear that the elections wouldn’t be easy for PD, which has traditionally performed steadily. Yet few could have predicted that the electoral alliance—winner of five consecutive elections between 2013 and 2021—would fall to just five representatives. PD’s support, at 12 percent of the vote, dropped to less than half of what it was in the 2023 elections.
The Greens, on the other hand, have every reason to celebrate. Many may have anticipated their return to the council after missing out completely in the last elections, but their 15.4 percent share of the vote, translating into six seats, is an exceptionally strong result.
A closer look at the Greens’ result highlights the outstanding performance of their top candidates. The three most-voted candidates in the entire election were all from the Greens’ list: Meeri Arvola with 112 votes, Saga Yli-Hannuksela Poutanen with 100 votes, and Ralf Lehtipuu with 85 votes.

JYVIVA WILL remain the largest group in the Representative Council for the next term, although its support declined by 4.7 percentage points. The alliance secured 11 seats — three fewer than in the previous election.
Another bloc that lost seats was the Centre Students of Jyväskylä, which dropped from two representatives to one. For the Centre, however, there was a bright spot: Jarno Saukko, who retained his seat with an impressive 77 votes — the fifth-highest total in the election.
Alongside the Greens, Alvari’s Union can also be counted among the winners of the election. The group rose to become the largest within the Järjestöjen ääni electoral alliance, securing eight seats — one more than in the previous elections.
The Natural Scientists and the Student National Coalition each gained one additional seat, while the Social Democratic Students held on to their two.
Another major shift from previous years was that the Järjestöjen ääni electoral alliance — composed of Alvari’s Union, PD, and Luoti — ended up in the minority for the first time in years. Out of the 39 seats in the new council, Järjestöjen ääni secured a total of 17, whereas in the previous election it had achieved a simple majority.
The Greens were not part of the Kampuksen punavihreät alliance this time. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that the left and the Greens together came close to a simple majority: Jyviva, the Greens, and the Social Democratic Students collectively won 19 seats.
A major disappointment was the voter turnout, which fell to 19.79 percent. In the 2023 JYY elections, 20.48 percent of eligible members voted. Although the total number of votes cast was slightly higher than last time, JYY’s overall membership has also grown.
Compared to other student unions, the result is weak — though Jyväskylä didn’t hit rock bottom. This year, voter turnout in Åbo Akademi’s Student Union elections dropped to 18.56 percent, and in the University of the Arts Student Union elections to 18.74 percent.

ACCORDING TO advance registrations, around 50 students had signed up to attend the Representative Council election night at Ilokivi Venue. After the results were announced, Jylkkäri toured the event to gather reactions from the different groups. Comments were received from all electoral alliances except the Centre and the National Coalition, although eyewitnesses confirmed that their representatives had also been present earlier in the evening.
