Jylkkärin tekemiseen voi osallistua juttuvinkkien ja mielipidekirjoitusten lisäksi myös lehden avustajana. Lehti etsii jatkuvasti uusia kirjoittajia kolumnisteista kulttuurikriitikoihin ja uutisnikkareista henkilöhaastattelijoihin.

Omia juttuideoitaan kannattaa tarjota suoraan päätoimittajalle (paatoimittaja(at)jyy.fi tai p. 045 137 1957). Erityisesti uusien kirjoittajien toivotaan esittelevän juttuideansa yhden–kahden kappaleen pituisella ideapaperilla, jossa kerrotaan, mitä juttu käsittelee, ketä siihen voisi haastatella ja mitkä ovat sen keskeiset kysymykset. Ideoita hiotaan yhdessä eteenpäin, minkä jälkeen sovitaan juttupituuksista, deadlinesta sekä kuvituksesta. Jutut toimitetaan pääsääntöisesti sähköpostilla rft-muotoisina tiedostoina. Jylkkäri maksaa avustajajutuista palkkion.

Everyone can take part in making the student newspaper Jylkkäri not only by submitting letters to the editor, but also working as a contributor. The paper is always looking for new writers from columnists to theather and music critics and from news reporters to feature writers. We’re especially interested in finding new english language contributors.

Ideas for stories should be offered directly to the editor-in-chief (paatoimittaja(a)jyy.fi or tel. +358 45 137 1957). Especially new contributors are asked to submit first an ”idea paper” of one to two paragraphs via email: the ideapaper should include some basic facts of the story, some ideas of who you would interview for it and a couple questions you will seek answers to. The ideas are then developed futher in cooperation, after which deadlines, story lenghts and illustratios are agreed upon. All story submissions are done by email preferably in the rft-format.

Jylkkäri pays all its contributors a reward, for which you will need a Finnish social security number, a bank account and a taxation card.
